Learning from the land after the Tsunami

Visit the Iwate TSUNAMI Memorial, a traditional facility that conveys the devastation & lessons learned from the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, & objectively learn about the facts & events that occurred during the time of the disaster through the exhibits & explanations by the staff.

After that, take a bicycle tour around Rikuzentakata area with a storyteller & experience the scars of the earthquake & the appearance of the beautiful village that stood strong. Highlights including cycling around areas such as the remains of buildings from the earthquake, farming areas, mountains & fishing villages full of local atmosphere. In this tour, you can get a first-hand feel of the current state of the region, which was severely damaged by the tsunami, as well as an introduction to the situation at the time of the earthquake, from both macro & micro, subjective & objective perspectives.

Take a cycling tour around Rikuzentakata City on E-bikes. Visit remains left after the earthquake & the agricultural, mountain & fishing villages with the storyteller, as you view the scars of the earthquake & how the locals live today. Visit a facility that conveys lessons learned from tsunami disasters. You can also enjoy a walk in the adjacent reconstruction prayer park.
